Brinker Powerlifting will be pausing the hosting of meets following the conclusion of the USA Powerlifting New Year Open on January 13th and 14th.
Meets will not be leaving the Cleveland area, as Lee Maccarone will take over running events at Old School Iron and has committed to maintaining the dates and names of the competitions you’ve come to expect.
Lee is currently the USAPL Co-Chair for the State of Pennsylvania, runs all of the meets in Western and Central PA, and is the founder of the University of Pittsburgh Powerlifting team. All of this is to say that you can expect an equal or better competition experience going forward.
Best of all, Lee has agreed to allow Brinker Powerlifting credit holders to transfer their registration to any meet he is hosting at Old School Iron. Be advised that he does not offer credits or transfers, so all transfers will be final. We will continue to inform you of when meets you may apply your credit to are added to the calendar and will handle adding you to the roster. Other than informing us via email of your wish to transfer, no other effort is required on your part.
The purpose of this change is to allow Ron to focus on achieving goals he set for himself in powerlifting that require a level of dedication that is not compatible with hosting meets. We thank you for all of your support over the past 5.5 years and wish you all the best of luck on the platform going forward.

The breakdown of the sessions each day will be determined by the weight class distribution of the lifters that register for the competition. Weight classes will not switch days. All participants will be notified by e-mail of the final schedule approximately 3-4 weeks before the event.
Entry fee for spectators is $10. Children under 12 are free. Coaches will also be required to pay the spectator fee.
Full Power, Push-Pull, and Bench Only are all options for this meet.
💥Raw divisions use non-supportive singlets and allow belts, wrist wraps, and knee sleeves. This is most common, especially for new lifters.
💥Raw with Wraps divisions use the same equipment as Raw, but also allow knee wraps. Knee wraps and knee sleeves may not be worn together.
💥Equipped divisions use single ply squat suits, bench shirts, and deadlift suits and knee wraps. There is no MULTI-PLY category. You cannot use knee wraps in the Raw divisions.
DIVISIONS
Included in the meet fee is entry to one division.
Divisions offered include:
Special Olympics
Youth (age groups Y1: 8-9, Y2: 10-11, Y3: 12-13)
Teen (age groups – T1: 14-15, T2: 16-17, T3: 18-19)
Junior (20-23)
Masters (40+ in 10 year increments)
Open
MX
Adaptive Athlete/Para Bench
If you want to compete against other lifters at this meet, consider entering the Open division. Most athletes that enter into only the Masters and Junior divisions end up in a division by themselves. This is a sport of individual achievement, but there is no feeling like having someone push you to be at your best. I have also had Junior only lifters hit higher totals than the winner of the open division!
Additional divisions may be added at a cost of $20 per division. Youth lifters may not add additional divisions per USA Powerlifting rules.
Adding additional divisions simply enables you to win/medal in that division. It is completely optional. Age based State Records (Teen, Junior, Masters) are determined by the lifter’s age. You DO NOT need to enter into an age based division to set a State Record.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Singlet; T-shirt (Cotton, Polyester, or a combination of the two with a round neck); knee-high socks for the deadlift; non-supportive underwear; and athletic shoes.
Optional for raw competition: belt; wrist wraps; and neoprene knee sleeves. These items must meet the specifications outlined in the USA Powerlifting rulebook.
For equipped divisions, only SQ/DL Suits, BP Shirts and Erector Shirts which meet the specifications outlined in the USA Powerlifting rulebook will be allowed on the platform.
